In September at a meeting at the Congress of Deputies, all Spanish Parliament groups (PSOE, PP, Unidos Podemos-En Comú Podem-En Marea, EAJ-PNV, CIUDADANOS, Esquerra Republicana and Partido Demócrata Catalán as well as Compromís, in the Mixed Group) and representatives of the Global Fund met to work on the Parliament’s position in view of the upcoming Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Resource Replenishment Conference which was to be held on the 16th of that same month in Montreal, Canada.
In a letter sent to the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, the various spokespeople of all the Parliament groups reiterated their parties’ commitments to the fight against epidemics via the Global Fund, following the line marked after the debate and approval of Motion 161/000570 on 28th April. On the one hand, the letter requested “a high-level presence of the Government of Spain at the Montreal Conference to manifest Spain’s political commitment there along with the international community” and, on the other, “for the Spanish delegation to state and specify its contribution plan for the next three years”.
