“Doctors
and Citizens against Medicalising Life”. That was the title of the roundtable
discussion -a debate organised by the Spanish Medial Association in
collaboration with other patient and citizen organisations and platforms aware
of this issue of converting ordinary living situations into health problems and
turning medicine into “a consumer good”.
We spoke about the cost of R+D+i processes, the lack of transparency throughout the process and about how such an unfair and unproductive system can be maintained over time. In conclusion, we asked for a change in the system through new measures and the introduction of criteria of public interest in innovation, research and development processes. |
